Remarks on Equivalence between Full Order and Reduced Order Nonlinear Observers

چکیده
Motivated by the fact that, for linear systems, existence conditions for a full order observer and for a reduced order observer are the same, we study relationship between full order and reduced order observers for general nonlinear systems. We employ coordinate transformations for dealing with reduced order observers. By restricting the change of coordinates to be linear, we obtain some equivalence between full order and reduced order observers and relationship between two corresponding error Lyapunov functions.

Second Order Sliding Mode Observer-Based Control for Uncertain Nonlinear MEMS Optical Switch
This paper studies theuncertain nonlinear dynamics of a MEMS optical switch addressing electrical, mechanical and optical subsystems. Recently, MEMS optical switch has had significant merits in reliability, control voltage requirements and power consumption. However, an inherent weakness in designing control for such systems is unavailability of switch position information at all times due to t...
متن کاملDesign of a Non-linear Observer for VSI Fed Synchronous Motor
This paper discusses two observers, which are used for the estimation of parameters of PMSM. Former one, reduced order observer, which is used to estimate the inaccessible parameters of PMSM. Later one, full order observer, which is used to estimate all the parameters of PMSM even though some of the parameters are directly available for measurement, so as to meet with the insensitivity to the p...
متن کاملPartial-order reduction of observers for linear systems
Abstract: Full-state observers for linear systems use available measurements for the estimation of the entire state of a system. Reduced-order observers instead deliver an estimate only in the unmeasured state subspace while the state values in the measured subspace are taken directly from the measurements. This paper presents a combination of both types of observers which directly uses only pa...
متن کاملA Short Note for the Robustness Properties of Hybrid Dead-Beat Observers
A discussion of the robustness properties of the proposed observer with respect to measurement errors is provided for the recently proposed full-order and reduced-order, hybrid, dead-beat observer for a class of nonlinear systems, linear in the unmeasured states.
متن کاملAas 15-341 Bilinear System Identification by Minimal-order State Observers
Bilinear systems offer a promising approach for nonlinear control because a broad class of nonlinear problems can be reformulated and approximated in bilinear form. System identification is a technique to obtain such a bilinear approximation for a nonlinear system from input-output data. Recent discrete-time bilinear model identification methods rely on Input-Output-to-State Representations (IO...
